It is widely recognised that care experienced young people are underrepresented in higher education; despite having the potential to do well academically. Aimhigher London’s Working group, consisting of Virtual Schools and higher and further education staff who support these students have identified the common barriers care experienced young people experience when considering and planning their transition to higher education.
These difficulties, along with evidence-based research, have been used to create simple information sheets on preparing to go to university and accessing support and guidance while there. The guidance, aimed at professionals supporting young people, provides information and signposting all in one place.
