Disability Working Group

The Disability Working Group (DWG) is a collaboration between school, college and HEI practitioners to raise awareness of the issues facing learners with SEND in education (specifically at points of transition) to work across educational sector to overcome them.

The network collaborates with regional and national statutory and non-statutory agencies to share best practice and raise awareness of and discuss implications for policy developments. The DWG aims to:

  • Enable the student voice
  • Identify and raise awareness of the needs of learners with SEND in the context of education
  • Support the understanding of key issues affecting transitions for learners, staff and key adults who support them
  • Take forward issues that arise to effect change at a local level

Members meet twice a year to review and plan programme activity. Progress is reported to the Aimhigher London Steering Group.

Our Programme

Our programme of Continual Professional Development (CPD) is developed by and for our members.

Our CPD sessions provide those staff attending with the necessary tools and resources to pass onto other members of staff within their own institutions.

Our latest CPD Conference was held on 6th February 2019 on ‘Greater Collaboration’: Multi-agency working, aspiration or reality?.
